It is a procedure that consists of transplanting hair, located in areas not affected by the patient’s genetic pattern, these being normally the nape and parietal area; thus, repositioning it in the areas damaged by alopecia. We currently have two hair transplant techniques to obtain hair follicles from a patient’s donor area: the FUE technique and the FUSS technique (or ‘strip’).
ADVANTAGES
Minimal care
Grafts once integrated grow for life
Ambulatory procedures (local anesthesia)..
Painless procedure.
Almost immediate recovery
Guaranteed results.

The Follicular Unit Extraction, FUE technique or “individual follicle extraction” is currently considered as the most advanced hair transplant technique. The grafts are obtained with local anesthesia from the donor area, they are extracted one by one using microsurgical tools of .7 to 1 millimeter in diameter, the follicles are carefully introduced through microincisions in the alopecic or bald areas. The follicle extraction is simple, painless and the area heals in 2 to 4 days with no rest needed. There is no risk of nerve damage. The use of scalpels or sutures is not required at any time. The FUE technique is minimally invasive and tolerable for the patient. On the other hand, by not extracting strips, the donor area only decreases its density by 30%, which is imperceptible. The process in general has a shorter postoperative period.
FUE TECHNIQUE
In FUSS technique or «strip technique», hairs from the donor area are extracted through a thin band of skin with hair between 15 and 20 cm in length by 1 cm wide approximately, obtained from the back or side of the head. The donor area remains imperceptible due to the fact that the same hair with its natural growth perfectly covers the extraction area.
Procedure not suitable for patients with alopecia areata* and autoimmune diseases**In alopecia areata, 2 years are required of not presenting new alopecic areas and having undergone psychological and psychiatric therapy.*Alopecia totalis or universal alopecic frontal fibrosisA cardiological evaluation is necessary for patients over 50 years old or with chronic conditions such as diabetes or hypertension.More than one hair transplant session can be required to cover large areas or to obtain the desired density. .
